Learning to love myself
Something I'm only learning to do in my mid-30s. But better late than never.
So I must thank my dear friend Christin from Twitter who tweeted this yesterday:
I was most intrigued, especially after the hate from a random guy I shall not link to.
So, I did what a depressed and grumpy person would do. I bought the course.
After all I’ve met Sasha once in an Interintellect salon and he seemed like a rather cool guy, and I’ve been following him on Twitter ever since.
I must say, it was quite transformational, and I’ve only done half of it.
For me, what worked best was the forgiveness meditation, and also the section teaching us how to love ourselves more, in a practical manner. And the “talking to anti-healing beliefs” section as well. That was very revealing. 🤯
It came just in time because I was in a MAJOR MOOD yesterday, feeling quite out of sorts, very sad, very mad, and very bad
I guess it could be bipolar kid things, or maybe it’s just life.
I remember earlier this week, on a Monday, when another dear friend at the Medical Dhamma Circle asked Venerable Jue Wei how to learn to like oneself a little more.
The Buddhist nun who was giving the talk didn’t satisfactorily answer her question in that Q&A, but that got me thinking.
I was pondering on my friend’s question the next couple days, and wondering if I too, did not love myself that much.
For mettā meditation, though a favourite of mine, has always felt rather forced.
It felt like when I was saying:
“May I be well and happy…”
That I didn’t really quite mean it.
But I said it anyways.
Once I complete Sasha’s course, I shall see if I can feel my mettā meditation a bit more.
Like lean into it in a different, more embodied way.
Anyways, if you’re curious about his Self-Acceptance Course, it’s US$75, and I’ll link to it here.
But for those who can’t afford it, I really liked his post on Deep Okayness, where he talked a bit about his journey to learning how he got to persistent self-love. I remembered reading it in wonder then, and am glad I am learning how to do so myself as well.
Also, more freebies for my subscribers:
I made a “i love myself” playlist on Spotify inspired by a section of his course that really impacted me (it’s a bit raw… I’ll be updating it in the days to come to best embody the vibe I want, but it’s a start!)
And here’s a free mobile wallpaper (I made) for you to download on your home screen too:
Thank you
